  2026 Fall Master Workshop

  In the long tradition of bringing highly acclaimed Builders and Repair Professionals,

  LINT is excited to announce the return of Ervin Somogyi.

  On October 2, 3 & 4 2026 LINT will have the honor of learning from one of the world’s best guitar builders.  Although he is retired from teaching, and not taking any new guitar orders, Ervin Somogyi is abandoning retirement for one weekend for our benefit.  Ervin is now 82, and this is most likely the very last opportunity to interact with the Master in a learning environment.

When speaking with him, or when reading the things he has written, it is immediately obvious that he is keenly insightful, full of equal parts of knowledge and good humor — both a scientist and an artist. He is a lovely man with uncommon patience, and sincerity. Viewed from any direction, Ervin’s career is the template of success. His list of achievements is unrivaled. He is an innovator, educator, creative thinker, author, artist, lecturer and inspiration to myriad builders who have followed his lead. If there was a Mt. Rushmore of luthiers, you would certainly see the face of Somogyi chiseled out of stone, staring down on the throngs of guitar enthusiasts who view his work as the quintessential representation of the modern Renaissance of steel string guitar.

  Polls are closed. Thank you for your participation. The clear majority of the 21 participants preferred to meet for the LINT October Meeting again at Kinnaird Guitars in Nacogdoches.  Also the poll showed a majority desire to reschedule to the 3rd Saturday October 17, 2026.  Thank you for all of your flexibility, (especially to Steve Kinnaird being able to accommodate the later date).

  One of LINT's key benefits is the generous contribution of expertise within our membership.  Join us on October 17th at Steve Kinnaird's shop outside of Nacogdoches, TX. The Kinnaird's have graciously agreed to host the meeting at their home and will be providing lunch.

  • As always, there will be a swap/meet - so if you have anything to sell or donate, bring it.

  The October 17 LINT meeting is worthy of a road trip.  Fall in East Texas is a beautiful thing...  especially when the destination is the workshop of Kinnaird Guitars.

  Extra Friday evening Dinner - If you plan to arrive early on Friday, Steve will coordinate with a restaurant for all who can make it to eat together..  More details will be sent to all confirmed registrants.

  There is an old time jam that Saturday at the General Mercantile and Old Time String Shop from 2-5pm that some will be attending after we leave Steve’s shop.   So come one, come all!  Bring your family, friends, "significant others".
